I started thinking about tenderness. She calls her shop

Tender blue and she says tenderness is her motto.

Tenderness seems to me a feeling but also a mood, a state of being.

It goes together with caress, another heart melting word.

What have this two words in common?

A state of well being, a delicate touch, a smooth perfumed

breeze of calm and tranquility that surrounds everything.

I love busy days, hot summer days,

but the evenings carry with them these quiet loved feelings,

the naturalness, the unfaked joy of being well and

peacefully understanding yourself.

I wanted to write these for some time, but didn’t know how and there never seemed to be the perfect time.

I will live you not with the clicheic < try a little tenderness >

but with the invite of thinking about these 2 little words that draw words of peace:

tenderness and caress.

Flowers, sunny mornings, ice creams, endless fields of colors and perfume and the beautiful sea are just few of the wonders spring and summer picture in full bloom.

For today I have chosen butterflies  to celebrate this beautiful weather.
Mornings are so warm and the light is never more beautiful than in spring and summer, making due drops  look like sparkling blue crystals.

My butterflies here have chalcedony drops, but wonderful as well. I thought these butterfly earrings would go perfect with the butter shaded roses and the chalcedony briolettes seems to be the most perfect due drops.

drawing, choosing wood, caressing it until it offers the imagined shaped?

The gifted artist I am telling you about is Isil, the delicate lady behind The Ancient Muse.

Her background allows her to mix glimpses of cultures, choosing what fits her style best and sharing it with the whole world, as ladies find impressive the hair forks she makes to adorn their hair.

With a large palette of representations she speaks about the two great influences in her work:

There  are few fashion cultures I am deeply into:  first is the Gothic culture and then the Japanese traditional and modern culture .

When I speak about “Gothic fashion and art” people imagine  wearing chains and all black. Well there are some people chose to do that too but gothic fashion is not all about that.

Gothic art is based on very deep romanticism and has a very different understanding of beauty and prise folk stories. This is really stimulating my imagination.

Bats, mermaids, pirates and Victorian fashion are some elements of gothic art I am inspired by a lot. To tie it to Japan, Gothic fashion is also popular in modern Japanese fashion too so they are related. I feel I am closest to modern Japanese fashion.

To be honest, there is not a think I would not find fascinating when it comes to Isil’s work.

I have always believed there is a sort of connection between the maker and its materials and Isil seems to greatly enjoy it and transform it into art:

I think about every design I made on paper how can I transform them into different style of women and men.

First I create stories in my mind. Every of my design has something behind.

Like my bats are inspired from Vampires and I have created to design slightly parallel so the bat looks like it is flying from your hair.

Designing process is quite long and messy as most of the objects are my original designs.

Then I choose my wood. Unfortunately I don’t have a place I can recycle wood but I use very good quality wood and know their origins.

Then cutting and shaping process. This takes days ok work and then depending of what wood and design needs I finish the objects with varnish or essential oils.

Every piece of design need quite long time to be realized.

I may not have made justice to all Isil’s work, but I totally got caught by the hair forks.

And as Isil told me, a thing I never realized is that hair forks were meant to gently wrap the hair, not to harm it as many elastic bands do.

But more than hair forks, there is a beautiful air in Isil works, a soft yet profound connection with nature that translates into the work she does on wood.

I’m a very sure it must be a beautiful sight watching Isil caressing pieces of wood, carving oriental flowers and impressive freedom flavored wings.

Lastly, the philosophy behind The Ancient Muse is not only about accessories or jewelry but a fun way to show your inner self, with a material which was alive and still a part of the nature.

Except from this lavender flavored silhouette,  slowly sweeping her tea, have you imagined how she might actually look like? Would she be wearing a tea length dress, would she be wearing pearls?

I always keep in mind the silhouette image, i find it so graceful and romantic that I honestly don’t think she needs something else. I’m sure there must be a strand of pearls or a pearl bracelet somewhere but we can’t see it. It’s hidden!

As I told you before, Gabriela made a fantastic job picturing my ideas and making Miss B as you see it everywhere. But more than this, and now comes one big surprise, Gabriela sent me a wonderful work book, she made entirely for me, with a Miss B drawing. I honestly have to say I don’t know what I like more, because everything is so amazing, Gabriela is one artist that really knows to read your mind and has this intuition of  making something it’s you will find amazingly perfect!

All my thanks go to Gabriela, for she thought about me and made Miss B two times fabulous!

One think that stroke me when unwrapping the darling gift was this idea of custom made. I made many many designs from your ideas and always loved discussing the details, trying to make the perfect piece, as you imagined.

However, until now i never had this image of the person receiving its custom order, I guess feelings although displayed can’t actually be felt by others than yourself.

So while unwrapping the gift I found myself being mesmerized by this “especially for you” that I never experienced in this manner, not even when my mom and grandma worked together to make the perfect skirts for me.

~

So if you never experienced this “especially for you”, “only for you” kind of work, I say you plan an appointment to your favorite jewelry maker, dress atelier or maybe to a very special some one that can make something especially just for you.

The amazing feeling does not lie in having something that no one has, but in this    sort of vanity of knowing someone thought about you and made something so amazing for you.

As everything received a fresh new dress, that happened with these 3 pieces. Not only they come now in the packaging i was telling you about here, the one some of you might have already received, but i thought i would give them another air, setting them along other gorgeous and delicate thing you can easily find in my atelier.

Now i think i finally found the perfect one, one elegant enough and yet childish, in a neutral tone but with a touch of floral fragrance. And, of course, with a ribbon.  I can’t conceive a package without a ribbon, with each pack i assemble i imagine the joy of someone looking at it, being mesmerized and willing to loose the ribbon and see what’s inside.

The labels and the pretty cards ( they are actually a surprise, and you will only find out what’s about when you open your package : ) are beautifully designed by Gabriela Iancu. I told you more about our collaboration here,  she has the wonderful gift of transforming glimpses of my imagination into fabulous designs.

When i first saw the subtle frame she designed for the labels i instantly felt that all those little flowers were growing and the butterflies were floating and everything was moving, dancing on my screen, as if they just been gifted with a living soul.

.

I still have that impression when closely looking at them, and who knows, maybe you’ll have the same experience and when you open the  bubble envelope the postman brought you, you will be mesmerized by a miniature garden of roses and butterflies and blue skies.

This is true, there are little details that draw amazing lines and swirlsin my mind.

There are stories, glimpses, image cuts that created fantastic worlds in my mind.

However, I often asked myself what made my pieces different from the rest of costume jewelry. And there was one thing that instantly came into my mind every time I was confronted with this matter.

It was the mood, the fragrance i felt in the air when one of my pieces was present,  the attitude the wearer had while being adorned with a work of mine.

It was the vision of a tea party.

The endless tea party i have in mind is one that goes away with every piece i make. When i try to design a piece and find myself in a blockage, i close my eyes and see my grandma holding a tea cup with her fingers, having the little finger risen in the air like a princess, i hear the rumor in a tea shoo, the clinks of tea cups set on saucers, the whispers that lose themselves in the tea vapor mixed with floral perfume.

I see graceful hands drawing in the air, adorned with pearl bracelets, rich buns revealing glamorous earrings sparkling in the sun, delicate necklaces dangling on collars of ruffled dresses.

~

My endless tea party is a mood of charm and elegance, but in the same time of playfulness, of simple gestures and sincere smiles. Is a state of summer, similar to the ones you find while attending a garden party, is a mood for pretty dresses and pastel powdered shoes.

This mood makes my world go round and is the state and attitude that my pieces are created for.
